Is the bike delivered assembled?
Volare bikes are assembled for 85% or 95%. For 85% assembled bikes, the handlebar, front wheel, front fender, saddle, and pedals still need to be assembled. 95% assembled means only the handlebar, pedals, and possibly training wheels need to be assembled. For all our bikes, it is indicated how they are assembled.
How do I assemble a bike?
For an 85% assembled bike, the handlebar, front wheel, front fender, saddle, and pedals still need to be mounted. A manual is included with every bike. Additionally, all our manuals can be consulted here.
What tools do I need to assemble a bike?
Conveniently, assembly materials are included with almost all our bikes. So you don't need anything else!
If these are not included, we recommend the following tools:
· Allen keys (3 to 8mm)
· Open-end wrenches (sizes 8, 10, 13, 14 and/or 15 depending on the bike size)
· Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead)
· Pliers or scissors (to remove packaging material)
How do I adjust the bike saddle?
The correct saddle height is when the ball of your child's foot can just touch the ground. Use the inseam length measured from the ground as a guideline (see also "What is the correct size children's bike" and "How do I measure inseam length"). Make sure the saddle is not too low, as this makes cycling harder.
The seat post can be loosened where it enters the frame. If it has a quick release, you can open the "lever" by hand; otherwise, use an Allen key or wrench. Carefully slide the seat post up or down to the correct height. Then tighten the seat post firmly and check the setting by sitting on the saddle. Never raise the saddle above the recommended height marked by a line on the seat post; this can cause the saddle to come loose.
How do I adjust the height of the bike handlebar?
You can change the handlebar height by adjusting the stem higher or lower. This can be done by loosening the bolt in the center of the handlebar with an Allen key. There may be a cap over the bolt in the center of the handlebar; this must be removed first. Then you can adjust the handlebar up or down. When tightening, make sure the handlebar is straight and aligned with the front wheel.
How do I install the pedals?
A pedal is marked with an L (left) or an R (right) indicating which side it belongs to. The left pedal has a left-hand thread. Tightening is counterclockwise and loosening is clockwise. For the right pedal, this is the opposite.
Optionally, apply a small amount of grease to the threads before installation. Always screw the pedal threads into the crank by hand first to avoid damaging the threads.
What maintenance does the bike need?
To enjoy your Volare bike as long as possible, it is important to maintain it well. Regularly check the chain, tire pressure, brakes, saddle and handlebar height, and lighting if applicable. We also recommend having an annual maintenance service performed by a Volare dealer to keep the bike in top condition!
A maintenance manual is included with all our bikes.
It can also be consulted here.
How do I maintain the bike chain?
If the chain is very dirty, first carefully clean it with a lint-free cloth to remove surface dirt. Then lubricate the chain with oil. Drip chain oil where the chain rollers rotate on the rear wheel sprockets while slowly turning the chain. Do not use too much oil as it attracts dirt. Usually, a small amount of oil is sufficient. Let the oil work for at least 30 minutes before using the bike again.
A maintenance manual is included with all our bikes.
It can also be consulted here.

What is the correct size children's bike?
When choosing a new children's bike, it is important to select the correct size. The child must feel safe, so it is not advisable to choose a bike that is too big for growth. If the children's bike is too big and feels uncomfortable for the child, the child will not learn well. Better slightly too small than too big.
If in doubt, we recommend you take a look at our bike choice help.
How do I measure my child's inseam length?
If you need help choosing the right bike size, the image shows how to measure your child's inseam length.

When does my child still need training wheels?
On average, your child will be able to learn to ride without training wheels from 5 years old, but this is certainly not a rule! Remove the training wheels from the bike when your child is ready. This means your child is no longer afraid on the bike and can balance well. To practice balance with the security of training wheels, you can also set them a bit higher; this way your child learns to balance and the bike is still balanced by the training wheels if something goes wrong.
