Is the bicycle delivered fully assembled?
Volare bicycles are 85% or 95% assembled. For the 85% completed bicycles, the handlebars, front wheel, front mudguard, saddle and pedals still need to be assembled. 95% assembled means that only the handlebars, pedals and possibly training wheels still need to be assembled. All our bicycles state how they are assembled.
How do I assemble an 85% assembled bicycle?
With a bicycle that is 85% assembled, the handlebars, front wheel, front mudguard, saddle and pedals still need to be mounted. To do this, you can follow the instructions below or watch the special Volare installation video.
How do I assemble a 95% assembled bicycle?
With a bicycle that is 95% assembled, only the pedals and handlebars need to be mounted. To do this, you can follow the instructions below or watch the special Volare installation video.
What tools do I need to assemble a bicycle?
· Allen keys (3 to 8mm)
· Open-end wrenches (size 8, 10, 13, 14 and/or 15 depending on the bicycle size)
· Screwdriver (cross-head and flat-head)
· Pliers or scissors (to loosen the packaging material)
How do I adjust the bicycle saddle?
For the correct saddle height, the ball of your child's foot should just touch the ground. To do this, use the inside leg length measured from the ground as a guideline (see also "Choosing a suitable bicycle"). Make sure that the saddle is not too low, as this will make cycling harder.
The seat post can be loosened at the place where the seat post enters the frame. If this is a quick release, you can open the "cover" by hand, otherwise you have to use an Allen or open-end wrench. Carefully slide the seat post up or down to the correct height. Then securely tighten the seat post and check the adjustment by sitting on the saddle. Never raise the saddle above the recommended height indicated by a line on the seat post; this can cause the saddle to come loose.
How do I adjust the height of the bicycle handlebars?
You can change the height of the handlebars by moving the stem higher or lower. This can be done by loosening the bolt in the middle of the handlebar with the Allen key. There may be a cap over the bolt in the middle of the handlebar; this must then be removed first. You can then adjust the handlebars up or down. When tightening, also make sure that the handlebars are straight and level with the front wheel.
How do I install the pedals?
A pedal has an L (left) or an R (right) on it that indicates which side it is intended for. The left pedal has a left-hand thread. Tightening is counterclockwise and loosening is clockwise. This is the other way around for the right pedal.
If necessary, apply a small amount of grease to the threads before mounting. Always screw the threaded end of the pedals into the thread of the crank by hand first, otherwise the thread can be damaged.
What maintenance does the bicycle need?
In order to enjoy your Volare bicycle for as long as possible, it is important to maintain it properly. Therefore, regularly check the chain, tire pressure, brakes, saddle and handlebar height, and, if necessary, lighting. We also recommend having annual maintenance carried out by a Volare dealer to keep the bicycle in top condition!
How do I maintain the bicycle chain?
If the chain is very dirty, you can first carefully polish the chain with a lint-free cloth to remove surface dirt. The chain can then be lubricated with oil. While the chain is rotating gently, apply a drop of chain oil to the area where the chain tubes rotate in the sprockets of the rear wheel. Do not use too much oil, as this attracts dirt. Often a small amount of oil is sufficient. Then let the oil work for at least 30 minutes before using the bicycle again.

What is the right size children's bicycle?
When choosing a new children's bicycle, it is important that you choose the right size bicycle. The child must feel safe, so it is not wise to choose a bicycle based on growth. If the children's bicycle is too big and feels too big for the child, the child will not learn comfortably. Better to be a little too small than too big.
Are you in doubt? We recommend that you take a look at our bicycle selection aid.
How do I measure my child's inseam?

When does my child still need training wheels?
On average, your child will be able to learn to cycle without training wheels from the age of 5, but this is certainly not a rule! Remove the training wheels from the bike when your child is ready. This means that your child is no longer anxious on the bike and can cycle well balanced. To practice balance with the security of training wheels, you can also adjust them a little higher; This teaches your child to balance and the bicycle is still kept in balance by the training wheels if things go wrong.
